Kimberly Garland she/her/mr. (Born: Oneida, NY, 1977 into a warm water bath) is a community-taught sculptor and mixed media artist with degrees in psychology and social work. She is a former artist’s model and singer. Her work as an art model included stints at Yale and The Art Student’s League of New York, immersive experiences which informed her early work. From 2018-2019 she was a resident artist in Kinston, North Carolina, where she helped co-create a public sculpture with assemblage artist Lonnie Holley, a major influence on her work since. While in Kinston she also: curated a local show on the female gaze, and won a North Carolina Art’s Counsel grant for her installation piece “Don’t Forget To Remember,” about memory, perception and childhood sexual trauma.

Since 2020, Kim’s practice has primarily been focused on sculptural assemblage and more recently soft sculpture with found and reused materials. In 2020, she was a finalist for the Global Eye Awards. She currently lives in Middletown, Connecticut.
